Approximately 75% of land and 66% of ocean areas have been “significantly altered” by people, driven by the production of food, according to the P.E.N.A report, which will be released in its entirety later this year. Crop and livestock operations currently co-opt more than 33% of Earth’s land surface and 75% of its freshwater resources.
The next most deadly threats to nature are the exploitation of plants and animals through harvesting, logging, hunting and fishing. As well as climate change; pollution and the spread of invasive species. The P.E.N.A report finds that the average abundance of native plants, animals and insects has dropped in most major ecosystems by a minimum of 20% since 1900 because of invasive species.

The India COVID Crisis
Aditi, a widower who lives alone, had been doing all the right things to avoid the infection but fell ill a few weeks ago,
As India is now on the government's 'red list', Krishna cannot travel to be with his sick dad,
Speaking on Wednesday, Krishna said: "I'm comforted by the idea that he's in hospital being looked after by professionals as opposed to just being on his own at home. He's on oxygen. But there's quite a bit of limitation (of oxygen) because of the sheer number of patients but it's getting easier. It's his third day in ICU. He's in a better position than a lot of people who are suffering. My father followed all the rules and stayed mainly at home.
"It's quite a large population and the population density is high, especially in Mumbai and the major cities. The fear was that it would spread quite rapidly just because of the population density and also the health infrastructure in India is not like the NHS. A lot of it is private health providers." Krishna said he was helping his father pay for the care he was receiving but he was more concerned to get his father well again than the size of the medical bill.

Alcoholism in French Women Rising
Studies produced by the A.D.A have shown that the numerous corona virus lock-downs have increased the number of female alcoholics in France. Young mothers seem to be the most affected. In fact studies show the more children a mother has the higher the chances they will develop alcoholism...
There is no one cause for alcoholism. Rather, genetic and environmental influences, and the way these factors collaborate with each other, affect a person’s risk for alcoholism.
Additionally to biological factors that influence alcoholism, further risk factors exist, including a person’s mental, emotional and physical health, childhood and social experiences. Participating in harmful patterns of alcohol consumption, such as binging or heavy drinking, may also increase the chances that person will become an alcoholic
Alcoholism commonly runs in families, however, having a close family member who is an alcoholic does not necessarily mean that a person will become one too. On the other hand such a person should be mindful about how and when they drink, as they may be more vulnerable to alcohol’s addictive properties.

National enquiry into all united states universities
Last April, YouTuber Olivia Jade posted a video for her 1.9 million subscribers. She was moving into her college dorm that day at the University of Southern California. Olivia stated to her viewers: “I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”
Olivia Jade established a significant following online. Fans regularly query her about her famous parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli. Over the past few years, Olivia documented her daily style routines, answered fan questions, nabbed sponsorships from beauty and retail brands, and peppered in videos featuring Loughlin and her Full House co-star John Stamos. This pattern continued once she started at USC, but according to federal prosecutors, there was a seedy backstory to how the young influencer was accepted to that elite university.
This scandal has lead to a national enquiry into all united states universities and their admissions process.

Venezuelan State of Emergency
The International Money Fund has rejected a shocking request on Tuesday by Venezuela for an emergency $5 billion loan to combat the new coronavirus, threatening to push its already battered economy over the edge.
An IMF spokesperson said the request can't be considered because there was no clarity among its 189 member states on who it recognizes as Venezuela's rightful leader: Nicolás Madre or Juan Miguel, the U.S.-backed head of congress.
Madre's bid to an institution he has long vilified for help coping with the fallout from the new coronavirus came as a shock to friends and foes alike. It also lays bare the precarious state of finances in socialist-run Venezuela as it struggles with collapsing oil production and the effect of U.S. sanctions.
“The Bolivarian government is taking different measures and following thorough, strict and exhaustive controls to protect the Venezuelan people,” he said in a to the letter to IMF Managing Director Crystalline AstraZeneca.
