Protests Bring American Citizens Closer, As Police Brutality Becomes Common.

The Black Lives Matter Movement has to be understood in the context of the history of the poor treatment of African Americans by the police and the  justice system and American political and social institutions more generally. That legacy is the harsh reality The Movement is mirrors and responds to that legacy. I don’t think people should be surprised by it, and it’s part of why people should listen to the Black Lives Matter position. Simultaneously, getting people to listen has been largely complicated by the deadly attacks of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge.  Protesters are gathering in New York, Dallas, Michigan and Chicago. UK Lock-down sends retail sales to record low; Alcohol sales rise

Data from SANTAR showed sales of fizz rose 59% during the latest four weeks, although wider sales of booze in the same period rose by just 1%, as pubs and hospitality venues were finally allowed to open.

SANTAR's head of retail Joey McDermont said the return of wider retail and hospitality “naturally” had a knock-on effect for the grocery stores. Indeed ahead of pubs opening, Tesco launched a campaign to encourage customers to support the hospitality industry, which has been forced to endure three devstating lockdowns in over a year.

Online sales have also declined, according to McDermont, with internet sales seeing its  shares slip to 12.6%, down from a peak of 19.8% in February.

“While online is still growing expediently, at 57%, the rate is half what it was at the height of the pandemic, ”McDermont said.

New League For Best Teams Threatens World Cup and Premier League.

The Super League: Each team plays 29 games from February till September. 11 home games, 11 away games, Magic Weekend and an extra 6 'loop fixtures' decided by league positions. The top six go on to the play-off series leading to the Grand Final which determines the champions. The bottom team is relegated to the Championship. How does this threaten the world of football as we know it? UEFA president Alexander Ceferin stated on Monday, “The players that will play in the Super League will be banned from playing in the World Cup and Euros. They will not be allowed to play for their national teams.”That would mean England playing without players such as Harry Kane and Marcus Rashfordand Harry Maguire.

Wuhan Hospitals Have Been Overwhelmed By Patients

China's Wuhan City has completed construction of the 1,000-bed Wuhan Huoshenshan Hospital in less than ten days. Built to treat coronavirus patients, the hospital aims to extend the previous construction of Beijing Xiaotangshan Hospital in a mere 7 days back in 2003. The final project was finished by a 7,000-member crew, and the hospital received its first patients Monday morning. Construction started on the Huoshenshan hospital on January 23 and was scheduled to be built in six days. The final two-story facility includes 30 IC Units and isolation wards. As the quarantined Wuhan City's existing hospitals were overwhelmed, they began to turn away patients and used social media to plead for medical supplies.
